BIO: Dr. David Almeida

Dr David RP Almeida is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon. He completed an Honors Bachelor of Science (University of Toronto, Canada), PhD in Pharmaceutical Drug Research(University of Szeged, Hungary), MBA in healthcare management (The George Washington University, USA), Doctor of Medicine (MD) (Queen’s University, Canada), ophthalmology residency (Queen’s University, Canada) and a vitreoretinal diseases and surgery fellowship (University of Iowa, USA). Dr. Almeida is part of Erie Retinal Surgery, a retina-only private practice with an esteemed reputation for excellence in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Almeida and Erie Retinal Surgery diagnose and treat all medical and surgical conditions of the vitreous, retina and macula. Dr. Almeida has over 200 peer-reviewed publications and over 150 national and international conference and keynote presentations. His research interests include proliferative vitreoretinopathy, infectious endophthalmitis, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration and complex surgical techniques. He has received numerous awards from the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and is regularly recognized in Top Doctor Awards.
